To Texas ABATE Members:
I will start this article with a great big Thank You. Thanks for all the Volunteers that have done a great job helping out. Also for the support on our Legislative session. As ya’ll might know we helped get Bill 1967 signed in to law. It has a lot to it. But no more stopping riders for checking your insurance card or motorcycle safety card. Also has Failure to Yield penalties that have been upgraded. Requires new rider’s to go thru a Motorcycle safety course and driver’s education courses have to include information on Motorcycle awareness and dangers for failure to Yield and to share the road. Also included was a change to the definition of motorcycle to include certain enclosed three-wheeled passenger vehicles. There is a lot to this bill.
Another Bill that got thru is Bill 537. It had an amendment put on that any child under the age of 5 years old can not ride on a motorcycle. But can ride in a side car. You can go online and check this bills.
Road Rage is on the radar right now. I have some friends and family that got hit by drivers with road rage. I would like everyone to remember that a motorcycle will not win against a vehicle. Just ride safely and free.
